Our Paris fan reporter Louis Frank was at the game on Tuesday night and, like his fellow supporters, hasn’t given up hope just yet
As a passionate PSG fan, I had been eagerly awaiting the match against Bayern at the Parc des Princes for weeks, as we were going through a rough patch in Ligue 1 and had just been eliminated by Marseille in the French Cup. The atmosphere leading up to the game was electric, with fans of both teams filling the streets of Paris with anticipation.
We gathered at a local sports bar in the early evening, hours before kick-off, to take in the pre-game hype and build-up. The bar was filled with fans, all decked out in PSG jerseys and waving flags and banners. The anticipation was palpable as we shared a few drinks and talked about our hopes for the game. Everyone was in high spirits and optimistic about PSG’s chances of coming out on top, even though recent games had not gone our way and our star player, Kylian Mbappé, was out. Walking to the stadium, it was impossible not to get caught up in the excitement.
Before kick-off we were greeted by an incredible sight: the ultras of Virage Auteuil had built a massive tifo to honour the team that was truly unique. The display was breathtaking, and it was clear that the fans had put in a tremendous amount of effort and creativity to make it happen.
The game itself was a tense, back-and-forth affair. Both teams had their chances, but it was Bayern who ultimately came out on top. The disappointment in the stadium was palpable, but the fans remained supportive and vocal until the final whistle. Despite the loss, there was a sense of pride and determination among the PSG faithful, who knew that their team had given their all.
After the match we made our way back to the sports bar. The mood was more sombre than it had been earlier in the evening, but there was still a sense of camaraderie and solidarity among our supporters. We talked about the game and shared our thoughts and opinions, but it was clear that everyone was still processing the disappointment of the loss.
