Boot review: Adidas Predator Flow+

The normally unflappable Swaz takes a moment for nostalgic reflection in his latest review

Look

These boots look distinctly like the ones that were released in 2012, the Predator LZ. I actually really like the look of them, to be fair. I like the colour, which is quite odd for me, because it’s a bit in your face and I’m not really about that anymore (as I get older).

Feel

They’re very stiff. They’re the most rigid thing I’ve ever put my hands on. That sounds a bit off, doesn’t it? But anyway, you put your foot in it and it remains – there’s no ‘moulding’.

Control

This is a boot for power and curl: the ribs on this thing are like the Mutator spikes on steroids. And they work, to be fair. Nailed it.

Tech

I like the sole plate. There’s also a new bit, a weighted ‘gem’ thing below the toe; it’s meant to add more weight to your shots. It’s a nice bit of tech. They’re calling it a ‘facet frame’ – they make new names for everything at adidas, don’t they?

Swaz factor

I go way back with these boots – the David Beckham edition were the first pair I ever bought. I’ve still got them in my cupboard – well, one of them. My mum accidentally took one to the charity shop when she was clearing out under the stairs.
